Do Americans think that there is a “European Culture” in the EU?

The Mediteranian culture is completely different from the Northern Culture, and all regions of Europe which speak different languages have different cultures. There are even many cultural differences within the individual European countries. So why are people thinking that there is this thing called “Europe” like it is one country? Most of the people can’t even speak to each other.

Why is the european culture mainly the only one to endorse animals?

In the end, they’re still animals.  Why is it big in european western culture to have dogs and cats?  Personally, I care less about them because our culture spends too much time caring for specific animals and leave other animals thriving…a bit hypocritical.
