    well, first, the europeans were catholic and very conservative. they wore clothes from head to toe; all they showed was hands and face. the native americans were naked all the time and had a polytheistic belief system of religion. the europeans came with lead, guns and horses. the native americans had spears made of wood and were hunters and gatherers. the native americans had sacrifice rituals and to the europeans that was seen as barbaric.

    early interaction included hospitality in the native american’s part. the europeans were here in "india" for gold, spices and riches. the europeans believed the natives turned greedy and didnt want to point them to the gold- so they used violence. the slaughtered the natives and called them animals, sodomites, beasts and all these other horrible things.

    look up Todorov and De Las Casas. they have very interesting things to say about early european arrival and the interaction of europeans and the native americans.
