    did you know that statistically speaking the highest crime rates in the world are found in UK, Austria, Sweden? highly developed west european countries, so the idea that poorer countries must more dangerous than others is just preconception

    I’m peruvian cop, for the general any tourist likes go to dangerous places, will be best question about that place or have a peruvian guide. Is not expensive. I think the risk in everywhere in the world, but here some thieves use the lies for obtain your money. With a peruvian guide all this is more dificult for thieves. Peruvian guides know the price right of the things and know peruvian tricks.

    we always do that here in lima at least downtown, I always have my backup at the front :P but no one has ever stolen anything from me in downtown lima. You got to be carfull and have some attitute. always look at your back and look at everybody right to the eyes

    Peru is less dangerous than other countries in South America. I think in other countries there are delinquency and violency but not exactly in all Peru.
    For tourist is enough that you have to watch your things, it’s normal.
    Lima or Cusco are not like Ginebra, Zurich or Helsinki, but is more secure than other cities.

    Well, this is obvios tha you don’t leave your things around in a public place in order to get stolen, not just in Peru but everywhere you go you have to be careful!!!! every tourist know this for fact.
