Rights group: 7 activists arrested in Belarus
A Belarusian human rights group says seven activists have been arrested while taking part in a round-table discussion in the country’s capital.

I suppose I could have used Alfred for the hero part, but he just fit so well in the “You can’t help me” line, because, you know, Belarus acts like she doesn’t need him to help her, though he always tries to. Also, according to Belarus, Russia is her only hero. Mongolia is the thief, because he took her away from her older siblings when she was young. However, despite this, I tried to make it seem that through the video, Belarus matures and grows older. She falls in love with Lithuania, but still, Russia is her close older brother (still like a hero to her, one she looks up to and admires… but she doesn’t try to stalk him anymore XDD Pretty OOC, but this is MY vid~ *nodnod*). Lastly, Ukraine is her supportive older sister who believes in her. *deep breath* So, as you can see, a lot of thought was put into this ^^ I’ll probably make another Belarus tribute, nothing like this, to be part of my official female-Hetalia-character-tribute series. Comments make me smile on the inside. :3

In Belarus, An Election Day With Soviet Style
Belarus always seems to be Europe’s fault line. In 1941, Nazis charged eastward, but a small battalion of Soviet soldiers in Belarus famously held strong, slowing Hitler’s charge for weeks. Today, Belarus is holding firm again, refusing to succumb to democratic will — despite the presidential election being held Sunday.

On the 20th of september 2010 a solidarity picket was organized near the embassy of Belarus in Vilnius, Lithuania. Protesters were demanding to immediately release social activists and anarchists arrested on trumped-up charges. Russia cuts Belarus supplies again as ‘gas war’ escalates
Russia cut gas supplies to Belarus by nearly two thirds on Wednesday, as a payment feud went into a third day and claimed its first European victim when Lithuania reported a drop in gas flow.
