Polish leader, 95 others dead in Russia jet crash
Polish President Lech Kaczynski and some of the country’s highest military and civilian leaders died when the presidential plane crashed as it came in for a landing in thick fog in western Russia on Saturday, killing 96, officials said.

I’ve been wondering why there is a little bit of russia located between poland and lituania. Why is it there? What is the history of it?

Example: Berlin to Moscow, Paris to Rome, Rome to St. Petersberg.

Trade between Russia, Lithuania shrinks against 2008 – Putin
NOVO-OGARYOVO, March 26 (Itar-Tass) — The trade turnover between Russia and Lithuania has shrunk against 2008 to about 4.5 billion dollars, Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Andrius Kubilius on Friday.

Russia eliminates 2 time zones
Russia’s president thought the country had too much time on its hands, so on Sunday he eliminated two of its 11 time zones.

In October I will be traveling in Europe. I have a Eurail Pass so I don’t have to worry about the cost of traveling in most of Europe, but I am having trouble finding the cost of some other travel. I am trying to find the cost of traveling from Helsinki to St. Petersburg, Russia; then to Tallinn, Estonia; then to Riga, Latvia; then to Vilnius, Lithuania and then to Warsaw. I know that’s a lot of places, so if anyone knows of any websites that can give an estimated price of traveling to these places it would be great. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

My mother’s family is from Lithuania & Russia & we are trying to find my relatives who live there, does anyone know a way i can find them or a website?

My ancestors came from East Berlin (before the wall went up), Eastern Slovakia, and maybe parts of Russia.

Whats unique to this type of culture? Im doing a project for my English class.

alright. I’m 17 years old and next summer I’m going to be taking a two month trip to Europe that I have been planning for the last two years. Now here are the countries I am thinking of visiting in order of necessity to visit. Ya know to see family and buddies

1. Germany
2. Spain
3. Romania
4. UK
5.France
6. Holland
7. Switzerland
8. Greece
9. Turkey
10. Russia

Now I have all of these countries included except for Russia. I need Ideas for the best country to start in, and the best to end in. Also need info on any festivals going on in these countries. Plus ideas of where to go in each country, and what to do. Tell me what I need to do, and what I need to miss. Any info would be much appreciated.
