What’s the best way to travel to at least 2 European countries during 2 weeks?

I live in Germany and travel alone, but want to know places where I can go and get to know other joung people. The countries I want to travel to are France and Italy. I also want to get the most out of this vacation. So anybody who knows any special features about these two, which would make the trip more enjoyable, I’ll appreciate the help.

I want to go from London to Paris, what’s the cheapest way? Plus any travel tips!?

A friend and I are planning a trip from New York city to London. We plan to stay there for about 5 days. But we also want to go to Paris and see everything there and stay for about 5 days. What is the cheapest way to do this, is there a train route or something easy?
Also any ideas on cool things to do, or prices or anything would be great. Know of any hotels that are inexpensive yet nice (we’re college students).
Thanks!
